【右上段】 法華開示抄 二十八帖のうち第二十三    常不軽品 大罪報を獲ること前に所説の如し 不軽の行は久遠実成の後の行か 威音王仏は穢土の化身か 最初の威音王如来 不軽の礼拝は記別行なる仏性か 不軽の記別は有性者に限るか 皆悉く礼拝讃嘆す ただ礼拝のみを行ず 更に寿命を増す 皆信伏随従す 千劫の間阿鼻地獄に 獅子月等五百比丘尼 当品で勝妙力無上を示現すべきか 【右下段】    神力品 神力品は経の末に安置すべきか その時千世界微塵等の菩薩 神力品中にいくつの神力を現すか 広長舌を出して上は梵世に至る 皆悉く十方世界を遍照す 多宝如来は神力を現すか 神力を現す時満百千歳 故に舌相を摂す 偈を説いて聞かしめる故 地皆六種に振動す 余経には五つあるが勝れないので釈さない           以上二品合わせて二十四帖 【左上段】 法華経第七巻開示抄 《割書:常不軽品|神力品|》 (三帖のうち第一)    常不軽品 問:常不軽の行は、四安楽行と同じか、それとも如何。       安楽行品抄の如し。 玄贊に云う:来意に四つある。一つには、能く学ぶ行人に六品あるといえども、分けて四段となす。これを第四とし、仏自身が往昔因位にいて、安楽行を行い、忍辱等を修し、この経を流通して、当に安楽を得べし。今この経を説いて、時会を勧励するが故にこの品が来る。三つには、安楽行を行ずる威勢比ぶべきものなきことを顕さんと欲す。我が不軽となりて安楽行を行ずるに、衆生その時我を損害せんことを行ず。初めには苦を受くといえども、還って我が力によりて、並びに仏道を得たり。   妙楽は玄贊を難じて安楽不軽の十異を録す。私記これを載す。見るべし。 問:経文に「大罪報を獲ること前の所説の如し」とある。前所説とは何品を指すか。 進んで云う:譬喩品である。これについて、譬喩品は謗法の業を説くといえども、持経者を謗ずる罪を明かさない。なぜ彼品を指すのか。法師品を見るに「もし人一悪言をもって、在家出家にして法華経を読誦する者を毀訾せば、その罪甚だ重し」とある。 【左下段】 「前の所説の如し」とは、この文を指すべきである。これに依って天台等は、法師品を指すというが如何。 会釈して云う:疑難に依って譬喩品の偈を勘ずるに、「読誦書持経する者あるを見て、軽賤し憎嫉を増し、而も結恨を懐く。この人の罪報を、汝今また聞け。その人命終して阿鼻獄に入り、一劫を具足し、劫尽きてまた生まれ、かくの如く展転して、無数劫に至り、仏種を断ずる故に、この罪報を受く」等とある。読誦書持四種の法師に対して、軽賤憎嫉を致す者は、無数劫の間、三途を経歴し、設い人間に生まれても諸の楚毒を受く。持経者を謗ずる罪報の事を広説すること、譬喩品の文分明なり。法師品は罪の深重を表すといえども、未だ罪報の相を明かさず。今品の指す所、最も譬喩品に当たる。他宗の釈、校量すべきことを知る。 経に云う:「もし比丘比丘尼、優波塞優波夷にして、法華経を持つ者あらば、もし悪口罵詈誹謗あらば、大罪報を獲ること、前の所説の如し」 玄贊に云う:「罪は前の譬喩品の如し」 譬喩品の経に云う:「もし仏在世にも、もし滅度の後にも、その如是の経典を誹謗することあらば、読誦書持経する者あるを見て、軽賤し憎嫉し、而も結恨を懐かん。この人の罪報を、汝今また聞け。その人命終して阿鼻獄に入り、一劫を具足し、劫尽きてまた生まれ、かくの如く展転して、無数劫に至り、他獄より生まれて、当に畜生に堕すべし」

When manifesting supernatural powers for a full hundred thousand years Therefore retracting the tongue characteristic Because speaking verses to make them hear The earth all trembles in six ways Other sutras have five but since they're not superior, they're not explained Above two chapters total 24 fascicles [Left Upper Section] Lotus Sutra Volume 7 Revelation Commentary [Marginalia: Never Disparaging Chapter | Supernatural Powers Chapter] (1st of 3 fascicles) Never Disparaging Chapter Question: Is Never Disparaging's practice the same as the Four Peaceful Practices, or how is it? As in the Peaceful Practices Chapter commentary. The Xuanzan states: "There are four meanings for its arrival. First, although there are six chapters for those who can learn the practices, they are divided into four sections. This is the fourth, clarifying how the Buddha himself in the past dwelt in the causal position, practiced peaceful practices, cultivated patience and so forth, propagated this sutra, and should attain peace. Now explaining this sutra to encourage the contemporary assembly, this chapter comes... Third, wanting to reveal that the威勢 of practicing peaceful practices is incomparable. When I became Never Disparaging and practiced peaceful practices, sentient beings at that time acted to harm me. Though initially receiving suffering, through my power in return, they all attained Buddhahood." Miaoле challenges the Xuanzan and records ten differences between peaceful [practices] and Never Disparaging. The private record contains this. It should be seen. Question: The sutra text states "obtaining great sinful retribution as previously explained." What chapter does "previously explained" refer to? Proceeding to say: The Parable Chapter. Regarding this, though the Parable Chapter explains the karma of slandering the Dharma, it doesn't clarify the sin of slandering sutra holders. Why point to that chapter? Looking at the Dharma Teachers Chapter: "If a person with one evil word slanders a householder or monk who reads and recites the Lotus Sutra, that sin is extremely grave." [Left Lower Section] "As previously explained" should point to this passage. Based on this, Tiantai and others point to the Dharma Teachers Chapter. How is this? Reconciling explanation: Based on the doubt, examining the Parable Chapter verse: "Seeing those who read, recite, write and uphold the sutra, despising them and increasing jealousy while harboring resentment. Listen now again to this person's sinful retribution. When that person's life ends, they enter Avīci Hell for a complete kalpa. When the kalpa ends they are reborn again. Thus continuing in succession for countless kalpas... Because they cut off Buddha seeds, they receive this sinful retribution," etc. Those who bring contempt and jealous hatred toward the four types of Dharma teachers of reading, reciting, writing and upholding, for countless kalpas pass through the three evil paths, and even if born as humans receive various tortures. The Parable Chapter text clearly explains extensively the matter of sinful retribution for slandering sutra holders. Though the Dharma Teachers Chapter expresses the gravity of sin, it doesn't yet clarify the characteristics of sinful retribution. What this chapter points to most appropriately corresponds to the Parable Chapter. Other schools' explanations should be compared and understood. The sutra states: "If monks, nuns, laymen or laywomen who uphold the Lotus Sutra encounter evil speech, cursing, slander and defamation, they obtain great sinful retribution as previously explained." The Xuanzan states: "The sin is as in the previous Parable Chapter." The Parable Chapter sutra states: "Whether when the Buddha is in the world or after his extinction, if there is slander of such a sutra as this, seeing those who read, recite, write and uphold the sutra, despising and hating them with jealousy while harboring resentment - listen now again to this person's sinful retribution. When that person's life ends they enter Avīci Hell for a complete kalpa. When the kalpa ends they are reborn again. Thus continuing in succession for countless kalpas. Born from other hells, they should fall into animal [realms]."
