一 近来小児／吐乳（とにう）の病居多に候により得効（とくかう）の方（はう）も
有之哉と御尋に預り赤面之至に候誠に此／症（しやう）は
小児の大／患（くわん）にて治療（ぢれう）の一大難事（いちだいなんし）に候／僥倖（げうかう）を得（え）
たる小児も有之候へども先は／不治（ふぢ）の症（しやう）と思はれ候
乍去／吾術（わがじゆつ）の拙（つたな）き故ならむと／種々（しゆ〴〵）に思ひを苦しめ
候へどもいまだ発見（はつけん）も得不致候／仍而（よりて）／熟（つら〳〵）考（かむが）へ候に
是は小児／初生（しよせい）の時より其父母に能々／諭（さと）し候て／吐乳（とにう）

杏隠居士
一、最近小児の吐乳の病気が多いということで、効果的な治療法があるかとお尋ねをいただき、恥ずかしい限りです。確かにこの症状は小児の重大な病気で、治療の非常に困難な事例です。幸運にも回復した小児もいますが、まずは治らない病気と思われます。
とはいえ、私の医術が未熟であるからかもしれないと、あれこれと思い悩みましたが、いまだに解決策を見つけることができません。そこでじっくりと考えてみますと、これは小児が生まれたときから、その父母によく説明して、吐乳にならないように養育させることが最良の策だと思います。

1. Recently, there have been many cases of milk vomiting illness in infants, and I have been asked whether there are any effective treatments. I am deeply embarrassed by this inquiry. Indeed, this condition is a serious illness in children and represents one of the greatest difficulties in medical treatment. While some children have been fortunate enough to recover, it is generally considered an incurable condition.
Nevertheless, thinking that this might be due to the inadequacy of my own medical skills, I have tormented myself with various thoughts, but I have yet to discover any solution. Therefore, upon careful consideration, I believe that the best strategy is to thoroughly educate the parents from the time of the child's birth so that they can raise the child in a way that prevents milk vomiting from occurring.
