恐れながら書付をもってお願い申し上げます件
一、名所北松尾の所は、私ども四、五代以前の先祖どもが持ち伝えてきたものと心得、譲渡等をいたしました。しかしながらこの度、御林の御改めにお越しになられ、いろいろとお尋ねの上、御理解くださいました所、御立林北松尾という名所に該当するものがあり、私ども先祖が御山守を請け負っていたということを初めて承知いたし、一言の申し訳もございません。恐れ入ります。この上は御見分の上、御境界をお立てくださるという御沙汰を畏んで承ります。
私ども先祖がどのような心得違いをいたしましたか、譲渡をいたしました。この度右の場所が御引き上げとなりましては、当時の持主どもにも甚だ気の毒でございますが、御趣意に相当する義でございましたら、やむを得ないことと存じます。どうかこの上は御慈悲をもって、当持主どもが立ち行きますよう、幾重にも御憐愍のほどをお願い申し上げます件

We humbly submit this written petition:
Regarding the famous place called Kitamatsuo, we had understood that our ancestors from four or five generations ago had inherited this land and conducted transactions such as transfers. However, on this occasion, when officials came to inspect the domain forests and made various inquiries before reaching an understanding, it was found that there exists a domain forest called Kitamatsuo, and we learned for the first time that our ancestors had contracted as mountain guards. We have no excuse for this and humbly apologize.
We respectfully acknowledge the directive that boundaries will be established after inspection. We do not know what misunderstanding our ancestors had when they conducted the transfer. Should this land now be reclaimed by the domain, it would be most unfortunate for the current landowners, but if this accords with the official policy, we understand it cannot be helped. We humbly request, with the utmost compassion, that consideration be given multiple times so that the current landowners may continue to make their living.
