王子はそこで助けて鞍から降ろした。彼女は中に入ってからしばらく経つが出てこないので、時間を取っては宮に帰るのに都合が悪い。彼女は何をためらっているのだろうかと馬から飛び降り、手綱を握って戸外に近づくと、中で話し声がするのが聞こえた。耳を寄せて聞いていると、彼女の声らしく「我が子よ、喜ぶがよい。お前たちの夕食に太った一人の少年を手に入れたぞ」と言うと、「今空腹を覚えています。どこにいるのですか」と答えた。王子はこれを聞いて身の毛がよだち、馬に飛び乗って一目散に逃げ出したところ、幸いにも大通りに出て、辛うじて危険な状況

The prince then helped her down from the saddle. After she went inside, some time passed but she did not come out, so if he delayed further it would be inconvenient for returning to the palace. Wondering what she might be hesitating about, he leaped down from his horse, grasped the reins, and approached the entrance, whereupon he heard voices talking inside. Listening with his ear pressed close, he heard what seemed to be her voice saying, "My child, rejoice! I have obtained a plump young man for your dinner." To this came the reply, "I am feeling hungry now. Where is he?" Upon hearing this, the prince's hair stood on end, he leaped onto his horse and fled at full speed, whereupon fortunately he reached the main road and barely escaped the dangerous situation
