[Right folio] Furthermore, regarding the point that it is improper for a representative (sōdai) to leave the capital on private business — this is something I find difficult to accept as reasonable. However, since this is a personal matter, I see no need for further consultation, and I have informed the meeting hall of my intention to resign from my official duties. One: Yesterday, there was a rehearsal Noh performance (keiko-nō) by Heishirō at Shin-Nanzenji, and we went out to the capital to attend. Those who accompanied were six people in total: Kai-no-kami, Tachiwaki, Naizen-no-shō, Hyōbu, Yohō, Murata, Nishiichi-no-shō, and Yasutsu. The attendant (tomo) was Zeniya Sahei. We had seats in the sixth box (sajiki) in the front section. The cost of the box seats was one piece of silver; lunch in lacquered carrying boxes with sake came to 9 monme 7 bu; dinner at Naiya Rokubei of Ikesumachi came to 21 monme, totaling 73 monme 7 bu in all — 12 monme 3 bu per person. The program of Noh plays was as follows: ・Kanyōkyū (Efang Palace) Shite: Heishirō Waki: Saitō Gozaemon ・Matsukaze (Wind in the Pines) Shite: Yamamoto Jōuemon ・Kayoi Komachi (The Visits of Komachi) Shite: Zenjūrō ・Shun'ei (Spring Glory) Shite: Jōuemon Waki: Gozaemon ・Hashi Benkei (Benkei on the Bridge) Shite: Zenjūrō The hayashi musicians were Kasuya Jirobei, Shimizu Shōkurō, Hirashima Seishichi, Hirashima Zenta, Fuchida Rokubei, Jinkurō, Yaichi, and others — all accomplished performers. We returned home after dusk. [Attached slip on left folio] Noh program at Takeuchi, the sixteenth day of the third month.
