[Left folio] Item: Today, Tomochiyo (Fumikiyoshi), the grandson of Yamato no Kami Yasukiyo, underwent his coming-of-age ceremony (genpuku). Hodo [a representative] was also notified but declined to attend. Despite repeated invitations, he firmly refused. Item: Shortly after the Hour of the Monkey (around 4 p.m.), the general representative (sōdai) Gyōkyū Hokaku returned home and was received by the Honorable Bun [Benden]. He was told: "Nagatoki's investigation of precedents (kanrei) has been conducted carefully and is satisfactory. Henceforth, one should bear this in mind." Regarding Suenaga's investigation of precedents, an inquiry was made as to whether there were any precedents of persons under forty years of age being in a state of non-appointment (mishoku). The reply given was: "There are none whatsoever." It was reported that there were numerous such precedents among the officials of both the Kataoka and Kifune shrines. Upon this, the instruction came to "withdraw to the middle lodging (nakayado) and wait." While waiting there, a summons arrived, and upon appearing, the response was: "There is much official business today, so for the time being you may be set aside and return." The documents submitted today were confirmed as having been received. Twentieth Day, Hour of the Horse [noon], Clear Item: Today, at the Council Hall (Hyōgijo), the transcription of the rank transmission documents (idai) was carried out. As the chief priest Masahisa was occupied, Hirohisa attended in his place; Kuniuji, the document officer (monjo-kata), served as scribe; and Naoyasu assisted. The general representatives Hokaku and Hodo also attended.
