　蜂及次ノ蜜蜂野生ニシテ家ニ畜フ者ニ非ズ

蜜蜂　《割書：ミツバチ｜》

　一名　花賊　蜜臣　花媒　王腰奴
　此蜂家蜂ト同ジ蜂ニシテ唯大木ノ空隙及檐間ニ巣ヲ
　作リタル者ニテ家蜂ノ人工ヲ仮ラズ自然ニ生ル者ナリ

　福州府志云甚小而色黄中有大者呼為蜂王皆有螫毒

**蜜蜂（ミツバチ）**

別名：花賊（かぞく）・蜜臣（みっしん）・花媒（かばい）・王腰奴（おうようど）

この蜂は家蜂（かほう）と同じ種類の蜂であるが、ただ大きな木の空洞や軒の間に巣を作るものであって、家蜂のように人の手を借りず、自然に生育するものである。

『福州府志』に云う：「甚だ小さく色は黄色で、中に大きいものがあり、これを蜂王（ほうおう）と呼ぶ。すべて螫毒（さしどく）を持つ。」

**Honeybee (蜜蜂 / Mitsubachi)**

Alternative names: *Kazoku* (花賊, "flower thief"), *Mitsushin* (蜜臣, "honey minister"), *Kabai* (花媒, "flower intermediary"), *Ōyōdo* (王腰奴, "servant of the queen's waist")

This bee is the same species as the domesticated hive bee (家蜂), but it is one that builds its nest in the hollow of a large tree or in the gaps under eaves, growing naturally without relying on human labor as domestic bees do.

The *Fūshū Fushi* (福州府志) states: "They are extremely small and yellow in color; among them there are larger ones called the queen bee (蜂王). All possess a venomous sting."

For those kept in households: a box (匣) is constructed with two small holes bored into it. When a swarm of bees clusters together on a tree or under the eaves, sake is blown onto the swarm, which prevents the bees from scattering. At this moment, the bees are scooped into the box. Cedar leaves are then used to stop up the two holes so the bees cannot escape. After one or two days, the bees build a nest inside the box.
