**家蜂（ミツバチ）**

【集解】李時珍（りじちん）曰く：「一種として、人家において器に収めて飼育するものを家蜂という。いずれも小さくやや黄色を帯びており、蜜はどれも濃厚で美味である。」

○『重訂増補陶朱公致富全書』巻之二に云う：「菜の花が盛りの時期に、古い穴のある山野において蜂を採取する。あるいは荊（いばら）で編んだ籠（囤）を作り、あるいは水漏れしない木箱（水匣）を造り、両端を泥で封じて一、二つの孔を開けて出入りできるようにする。別に小さな扉を設けて、随時開けて内部を清潔に掃除し、他のものに侵されないようにする。軒の近くに置き、

蜘蛛の巣や山蜂・土蜂・蠧（きくいむし・蛾の幼虫など木や布を食う虫）の害を取り除く。九月・十月になり天気がしだいに寒くなり、百花がすでに尽きたころには、蜂が冬月に食べるための蜜を十分に残しておき、余分なものを割り取って蜜と蝋（みつろう）を作る。春の三月には掃除して、再び前と同じ方法で飼育する。長く飼い続けると蜂は盛んになる。一つの巣にはただ一匹の女王蜂（王）だけを残しておく。蜂王が巣を分けようとして、分蜂が飛び出してきた時は、砕いた土を撒いて捕まえ、別に一箱に置く。」

**Domesticated Hive Bee (家蜂 / Mitsubachi)**

**Collected Commentaries:** Li Shizhen states: "One variety, kept by households in containers, is called the domestic bee (家蜂). They are uniformly small and slightly yellow, and their honey is invariably rich and delicious."

○ The *Chōtei Zōho Tōshukō Chifū Zensho* (重訂増補陶朱公致富全書), Volume 2, states: "During the season when rapeseed flowers are in full bloom, bees are collected from old cavities in the mountains and fields. Either a basket woven from thorny branches is made, or a watertight wooden box (water box) is constructed. Both ends are sealed with mud, and one or two holes are opened to allow the bees to pass in and out. A separate small door is made, which is opened regularly to sweep the interior clean and prevent other creatures from encroaching. Place it near the eaves,

removing spider webs, and keeping away wasps, ground bees, and wood-boring insects. In the ninth and tenth months, when the weather gradually turns cold and all flowers have been exhausted, one should leave sufficient honey for the bees to consume during the winter months, and harvest only the surplus to produce honey and beeswax. In the third month of spring, clean the hive and resume care using the same method as before. If kept for a long time, the colony will thrive. In each hive, only one queen bee should be retained. When the queen bee is about to divide the colony and a swarm flies out, scatter crushed earth over them to collect them, and place them in a separate box."
