「くめくめ川と云う所にはべり。里の家々には井なども侍らで、ただこの川を汲みて朝夕もちひはべるとなん申しければ」
（くめくめ川と呼ばれる所がある。里の家々には井戸なども無く、ただこの川の水を汲んで朝夕の生活に用いているとのことを申しましたので）

> The villagers call it the Kumekume River — as evening falls, the water turns to pressing ice
