五大力茂市は浪花の水に遡（さかのぼ）る鯉魚（りぎよ）の
勢ひ普（あま）ねく賞（しやう）して皛（きらびや）かなる晴天
の名を甲太皷（かんだいこ）に轟（とどろ）かす大角力にて
土俵入せる支体（からだ） 寸量（かつこう）の本説（しつ）

現代語訳
先日、錦画新聞第十四号に描き写した五大力茂市（ごだいりきもいち）は、浪花（大阪）の川を遡る鯉のような勢いで、広く世間の賞賛を集め、その名は晴天興行の大相撲の櫓太鼓とともに、かん高く鳴り響いている。土俵入りをしたその体格の実際のところを記せば、次のとおりである。

身の丈 四尺五寸（約一三六センチ）
目方 十八貫目（約六七・五キロ）
ここにもう一度その姿を描き、これから先、人気も力量もますます栄えてゆく行く末を待つばかりである。

The child wrestler Godairiki Moichi, whose likeness was reproduced the other day in Nishiki-ga Shinbun No. 14, has the vigor of a carp swimming up the rivers of Naniwa (Osaka). Universally praised, his name resounds shrill and brilliant along with the tower drums of the grand fair-weather sumo tournaments. As for the true particulars of the physique of this boy who performed the ring-entering ceremony, they are as follows:
