候間為御知らセ御申越候御返答ニハ如何様ニ茂
御心次第ニ候御手前様より思召寄相模守殿江
被仰達候旨御申越候之由御手前様得先引取

之被成様も可有之候ヘ共差越申様ニ答候
願御申上候て何様ニ御返答有之候哉御聞
被成度也御尤奉存候定而美作守殿将監方江

現代語訳
使者をおっしゃってこられたのは、監物殿の件について昨日願い出を申し上げましたので、お知らせのためおっしゃってこられました。ご返答としては、どのようにでもお心次第でございます。あなた様の方からお考えを相模守殿へお伝えになった旨をおっしゃってこられたとのこと。あなた様の方へまず引き取ることをおっしゃってこられた旨、これはご内意のことでございますので、ご返事をなさる方法もあるでしょうが、差し控え申すように存じます。
願いを申し上げて、どのようなご返答があるかお聞きになりたいとのこと。もっともなことと存じます。きっと美作守殿、将監方へ山城守殿からお伝えになるものと存じます。大膳太夫殿のお願いの
趣旨でございますので、お返しするように老中からおっしゃってこられましたら、いよいよそのようになさるのが然るべきと存じます。なおお目にかかることを期待しております。以上

一 同日、先月の御用番戸田山城守忠昌殿並びに土屋相模守政直殿へお手紙を差し上げた
監物様の件について松平大膳太夫綱広殿へのお掛け合いが済んだ段、ご届けになった
一 同日、右同様について松平大膳太夫綱広殿からお願いの上、今夜お迎えを遣わし、大膳太夫殿のお屋敷へお引き取りになった
一 六月四日、御用番阿部豊後守正武殿へお出でになり、お会いの上、左の通り

The messenger you sent came to inform [us] that regarding Kenmotsu-dono's matter, a petition was submitted yesterday, so [you] sent word to notify [us]. In response, [the matter] is entirely up to your discretion. [The messenger said] that you had conveyed your thoughts to Sagami-no-kami-dono. Regarding your suggestion to first take [him] to your residence, since this is a matter of unofficial intention, there may be ways for you to respond, but [I] believe [we] should refrain from interfering.
[You] wish to hear what kind of response there will be after submitting the petition. [This is] quite reasonable. [I] believe that Mimasaka-no-kami-dono will certainly convey [the matter] to the Shōgen through Yamashiro-no-kami-dono. Since this concerns Daizen-dayū-dono's petition,
if the Rōjū (senior councilors) instruct [us] to return [him], [I] believe it would be proper to proceed accordingly. [I] look forward to meeting with you in person. The above.
June 1st
1. On the same day, [a letter was] written to Toda Yamashiro-no-kami Tadamasa-dono and Tsuchiya Sagami-no-kami Masanao-dono, who were on duty last month.
[They] reported that the consultation with Matsudaira Daizen-dayū Tsunahiro-dono regarding Kenmotsu-sama's matter had been completed.
1. On the same day, regarding the same matter above, following Matsudaira Daizen-dayū Tsunahiro-dono's petition, [he] sent someone to escort [Kenmotsu] tonight, and [Kenmotsu] was taken to Daizen-dayū-dono's residence.
1. June 4th, [the lord] went out to meet with Abe Bungo-no-kami Masatake-dono, who was on duty, and [spoke] as follows:
