緒言
生命ノ貴重ナルハ衆庶ノ能ク知ル處ニ𬼀
誰カ夭死短命ヲ欲スル者アラン哉百般法
方ヲ運ラシ以テ生命ノ保存ヲ希望スルハ
各人ノ通情ニ𬼀苟モ性ヲ禀ル者ハ必ス此
心ヲ固有セザル者ナカルヘシ而唯タ之ヲ
希望スルモ其ノ之ヲ保存スル法方ト之ヲ
行フ所以ノ理由トヲ知ラサレハ大ニ誤ル

緒言
生命の貴重なることは一般の人々がよく知るところである。
誰が早死にや短命を望む者があろうか。あらゆる方法
を用いて生命の保存を希望するのは
各人の共通の感情である。およそ生まれながらの性質を持つ者は必ずこの
心を生来持たない者はいないであろう。しかしただそれを
希望するだけでも、その生命を保存する方法とそれを
行う理由とを知らなければ大いに間違いを犯す

Preface
The preciousness of life is well known to all people.
Who would desire premature death or a short life? Using every possible method
to hope for the preservation of life is
a common sentiment of each person. Indeed, those who possess innate nature must
all inherently possess this heart without exception. However, merely
hoping for it is not enough—if one does not know the methods for
preserving life and the reasons for
implementing them, one will make grave errors.
