- In the first month of the tenth year (Year of the Rooster): He was appointed to concurrently serve in artillery (hōjutsu) duties.
- In the intercalary eleventh month of the same year: He was appointed as instructor in artillery (hōjutsu shihan).
- In the twelfth month of the same year: Having devoted himself diligently to his duties at the newly established coastal defense positions in Sagami Province, and having labored in the organization of defensive preparations as well as fire-artillery duties, he was awarded two silver coins (ginshi niimai) as a commendation.
- In the second month of the eleventh year (Year of the Dog): He was provisionally appointed on a temporary basis to the firefighting supervisory post (hikeshi-gakari); however, in the ninth month of the same year, his request was granted and he was relieved of the firefighting supervisory duties.
- In the second month of the twelfth year (Year of the Boar): His superior, Nagasaka Heidayū, was reassigned, and consequently he was transferred to Ibuka Denjirō's unit.
