- In the eleventh month of the same year: Regarding the combined unit drill exercises, since the Year of the Rabbit [as indicated by the strikethrough correction], the traditional bird-hunting drills (oitorigari) had been suspended, and in their place lighter-style maneuver exercises had been ordered. As the formation, foot alignment, and operational conduct proceeded without any difficulty, it was graciously declared that this demonstrated the men had been applying themselves diligently to their training all along, and the entire unit received commendation.
