年にいたり大きに損徳（そんとく）あるべし
第三《割書：桑 苗（なへ）ふせやうの次第附り取木のしやう并｜植やうの事》
桑の実（み）は随分上桑の種を求（もとめ）壱本屋舗の内に植（うへ）
置 立通（たてとを）しにして実（み）のおつる時分に取 絹（きぬ）ふるひなどへ
入水にひたしもみそゝぎ其上 灰（はい）沢山（たくさん）にして村のなき
やうにかきまぜ但し苗間（なへま）は冬の内馬屋 糞（こい）をくるみ

位（くらゐ）に足（あし）の爪（つま）先にて筋（すぢ）を引右の桑の実（み）うすくまき土（つち）
弐三分ほと掛上へ藁（わら）をすこし蓋（ふた）にして桑はへたる

時分蓋をとるへし又 翌（よく）春になりて代（しろ）出しの時には間（あひだ）三
四寸位に植（うへ）馬屋糞（まやごい）又はごみなどを入れ土を掛 則（すなはち）芽（め）出
したる時分 下糞（しもこい）を引其時桑壱本より芽（め）一ッ宛（づゝ）にして
末（うら）を切べし附￣リ取木の仕（し）やうは雨（あめ）の上￣リ に深（ふか）￣サ七寸 位（くらゐ）に桑

桑の実は十分に上質な桑の種を求め、一本を屋敷の内に植えて置き、立て通しにして実の落ちる時分に取り、絹ふるいなどへ入れ水に浸しもみ洗いし、その上灰を沢山にして村のないようにかき混ぜる。ただし苗間は冬の内に馬屋糞を組み、春になって下肥を掛け土を肥やし、地を平らにして間隔一尺位に足の爪先で筋を引き、右の桑の実を薄く蒔き、土を二三分ほど掛け、上へ藁を少し蓋にして、桑が生えた

時分に蓋を取るべし。また翌春になって代出しの時には間隔三四寸位に植え、馬屋糞またはごみなどを入れ土を掛け、すなわち芽出しした時分に下肥を引き、その時桑一本より芽一つずつにして末を切るべし。付り取木の仕様は雨上がりに深さ七寸位に桑の丈に応じ長く掘り、末を五寸ほど出して土を掛け、十分踏み付けて置き、二年目か三年目の春になって根が沢山付いた時分、根の損じざるように大切に掘り取り、その桑元より三四寸位に根を掛けて切り、右桑苗を代出しのごとく間四五寸位に植え、切り口を少し出して土を掛け、芽出しした時分

For mulberry seeds, seek sufficiently high-quality mulberry seeds, plant one tree within the property grounds, keep it upright, and when the fruits fall, collect them in a silk sieve or similar, soak in water and wash by rubbing, then add plenty of ash and mix thoroughly so there are no clumps. However, for the seedbed, wrap with stable manure during winter, and in spring apply night soil, enrich the soil, level the ground, and at intervals of about one shaku, draw furrows with the tips of your toes, sow the mulberry seeds thinly, cover with about two to three bu of soil, place a little straw as a cover on top, and when the mulberry has sprouted

remove the cover. Also, the following spring during transplanting, plant at intervals of about three to four sun, add stable manure or compost and cover with soil. When the shoots emerge, apply night soil, and at that time leave one shoot per mulberry plant and cut off the tips. For layering, after rain dig to a depth of about seven sun according to the height of the mulberry tree, leave about five sun of the tip exposed and cover with soil, tamp down well, and in the second or third spring when plenty of roots have formed, carefully dig up without damaging the roots, cut leaving about three to four sun of root from the mulberry base, plant these mulberry seedlings at intervals of four to five sun like transplanting, with the cut end slightly exposed and covered with soil, and when shoots emerge
