桑は年（とし）の陽気（やうき）により小葉養（こばかい）に込（こま）る#1事あり其桑
はやく用ひたき時には桑 沢山（たくさん）に植置（うへをき）たる畑（はた）壱枚（いちまい）春（はる）
地（ち）にして冬（ふゆ）の内（うち）下糞（しもごい）一度（いちど）掛（かくる）春になりて又一度掛
べし四五日もはやく芽（め）出（だ）すものなり惣而 麦（むぎ）などを
蒔（まく）ときにも心付桑の根より弐尺ほどはなれて蒔（まく）

【右丁】
下肥を掛けるべきである。このように取り木は一本で十本になることがある。
第一、取り木は育ちの早いものであるから油断なく心がけるべきである。
総じて桑は諸作物に五割も利益の強いものであるから、
畑の畦に二尺とすき間をなく植え置くべきである。ただし植え方の
次第は、畑畦より二尺ほど内へ引き込み、深く掘り、桑の主
根を切り捨て、右の穴へ根を畑の内へして、その中へ馬屋糞又
は道端のごみなどを入れ土を掛け、その後また下肥を掛けるべきである。
桑の一生といっても十年の所は二十年も生育分強く芽吹き
出るものである。

第四《割書：小葉養いの桑並びに大霜の時桑早く芽吹き出る事》
桑は年の陽気により小葉養いに困ることがある。その桑を
早く用いたい時には、桑を沢山に植え置いた畑一枚を春
耕地にして冬の内に下肥を一度掛け、春になって又一度掛ける
べきである。四五日も早く芽出しするものである。総じて麦などを
蒔く時にも心がけ、桑の根より二尺ほど離れて蒔く
べきである。霜が降った時、地の息が上がり枯れないものである。また
大霜の時、桑が残らず枯れることがある。その時には即時に桑の
根を掘り、下肥を強く掛け、また二日ほど過ぎて焼酎糟の腐った

First, since layering grows quickly, one must pay careful attention without negligence.
Generally, mulberry is fifty percent more profitable than other crops, so
it should be planted without gaps at two shaku intervals on field ridges. However, the procedure
for planting is to pull back about two shaku inward from the field ridge, dig deeply, cut off the main
root of the mulberry, place the roots into the hole facing the interior of the field, add stable manure or
roadside compost into it and cover with soil, then afterwards apply night soil again.
Even though we speak of the mulberry's lifespan, what lasts ten years can produce strong growth and budding
for twenty years.

Depending on the year's weather, mulberry may be troubled by the need for early leaf cultivation. When one wants to
use such mulberry early, take one field where mulberry has been planted abundantly, make it into spring
plowland, apply night soil once during winter, and apply it once more in spring.
This will cause budding four to five days earlier. Generally, when sowing
wheat and such, one should be mindful to sow it about two shaku away
from the mulberry roots. When frost falls, the earth's breath rises and the plants do not wither. Also,
during severe frost, all the mulberry may wither. At such times, immediately dig up the mulberry
