陽炎（やうなふ）さめずして又四時より九時まで涼（すゞ）し
く又九時より夜（よ）の明方（あけかた）まては諸（しよ）人戸を
闔（たて）きるゆへ自然（しぜん）と井（ゐ）に水のたまるがごとく
陽炎（ほなふ）つゝまり即時（そくじ）にさわる事あり如此（かくのことく）

掛べし又心掛なき時には宵（よひ）の四時に桑

北（きた）の高窓（たかまど）を明 庭起（にはをき）より高窓の分のこらす明（あけ）て

つよき時には庭（には）へ水を打（うち）西北（にしきた）によらず其口〳〵え
莚（むしろ）なりとも出（いだ）し張（はり）にして戸を明置べしことに

陽炎が冷めずして、また午後十時頃から午前十時頃まで涼しく、また午前十時頃から夜明けまでは多くの人が戸を閉め切るため、自然と井戸に水が溜まるように陽気が籠もり、即座に蚕が害を受けることがある。このように心掛けのある人は夜の午後八時頃に桑を一度与えるべきである。また心掛けのない時には宵の午後十時頃に桑を厚く掛けておくべきである。ただ涼しい間は朝の午前六時頃から午後十時頃までであろう。ただし獅子竹の時分は宵から暑さがあって心配なことがある。

この時には南の高窓を開け、それが過ぎて舟起には北の高窓を開け、庭起からは高窓の分を残らず開けて休むべきである。また昼は西北を開けておくべきである。それでも天日が強い時には庭に水を打ち、西北に関わらずその入口に莚でも出して張りにして戸を開けておくべきである。特に三、四月の時分は天日の差し込みが北南同様であるものである。しかし西北は風通しの良いところがある。また南などはなおさら心を付けるべきである。障子からほのかに照り返しもあり、南の際などに置いた蚕は害を受ける。

Also, from the ninth hour until dawn, since many people close their doors completely, the heat naturally accumulates like water collecting in a well, and the silkworms can be harmed immediately. Those who are thus mindful should give mulberry leaves once at the eighth hour of night (around 8 PM). When not being mindful, one should thickly layer mulberry leaves at the fourth hour of evening (around 10 PM). The cool period should be from around the sixth hour of morning (6 AM) until the fourth hour (10 PM). However, during the shishi-take period, there is heat from evening onwards, which is concerning.

At this time, open the south high windows, and when that passes and it becomes funa-oki, open the north high windows. From niwa-oki onwards, open all the high windows completely and rest. Also, during the day, keep the northwest open. Even so, when the sunlight is strong, sprinkle water in the garden, and regardless of northwest direction, extend reed mats or similar at those openings and keep the doors open. Particularly in the third and fourth months, the penetration of sunlight is the same for both north and south. However, the northwest has good ventilation. For the south side especially, one should pay even more attention. There is also faint reflected light from the shoji screens, and silkworms placed near the southern edge will be harmed.
