顔はもちろん全身にも出ず、患者の苦痛も少なく後遺症も残さず、他の人にも感染しない。天然痘を経験した人には何度種痘しても発症せず、まことに最上の良法であるため、万国残るところなく一時に広まったのである。ただ日本ばかりはまだ伝わっていなかったため、これまでオランダ人も何度も持参したけれども、海上遠いために途中で品質が劣化し役に立たず、去年の申年にもわざわざ依頼された大名方もあったけれども、その時も変質して役に立たなかった。今年不思議に伝わったのは、昔からあるものとは大いに優れた種痘法である。
