一、同十二亥年九月、追鳥狩の節、罷り出て獲物を拝領仕り候。

One: In the first month of the eleventh year of Bunka [1814, the year of the Dog], as he had applied himself diligently to his studies and was said to demonstrate skill beyond his years, he was awarded, as a commendation, copies of the *Kōkyō Daigi* [Great Meaning of the Classic of Filial Piety], the *Shisho Shūchū* [Collected Annotations on the Four Books], and the *Shōgaku* [Elementary Learning].
Tetsunojō Tsugitsune — [Childhood name: Motojirō; born in the fourth month of the ninth year of An'ei, 1780, the year of the Rat.]
Legitimate eldest son of his biological father, Jinuemon Tsugitora.
Wife: Daughter of Hinata Shinji Tsugitaka. [Born on the twenty-first day of the fourth month of the fourth year of Tenmei, 1784, the year of the Dragon.]
One: In the eleventh month of the eleventh year of Bunka [1814, the year of the Dog], two *koku* and one person's stipend was reduced from his father's provisional allotment (*gisaku*), and he was granted eighteen *koku* and three persons' stipend; he was called into service, assigned to the *Tozama-gumi* [Outside Retainer Unit], and, under the command of Naitō Suke'emon's unit, he served as a castle guard.
One: In the ninth month of the twelfth year [of Bunka, 1815, the year of the Boar], he attended the *Oitori-gari* [the domain lord's ceremonial hunt] and received game as a reward.
Note: Thereafter, he attended one further occasion and received game as a reward.
