Since Kanemitsu's son Higuchi Jirō Kanemitsu, the descendants had resided for generations in Higuchi Village, Kami-Ina District, Shinano Province, and accordingly changed their clan name to Higuchi. Higuchi Chikuzen-no-kami Mitsuyasu, the seventeenth-generation descendant of Kanemitsu, held a domain of 108 kanmon in an isolated castle in Shinano Province. His son, Chikuzen-no-kami Mitsutada, and Mitsutada's eldest son, Chikuzen-no-kami Mitsunobu, served the Takeda clan during the Tenbun era. The second son was known as Hitachi-no-suke Mitsumune. Mitsunobu had two sons and two daughters; the eldest, called Denbei, died without succeeding to the headship of the family, and his son Kakuzō became Mitsunobu's adopted son and inherited the headship. He later served the Takeda clan and was killed in battle against the Oda clan at Futatsuyama in [Shinano Province,] (text as in original) -hara. Mitsunobu's second son is none other than Shōgen Mitsumori. The two younger sisters married Shiba Seigoro and Uehara Hyōgo respectively. Mitsumori served two generations under Shingen and Katsuyori, distinguished himself in the battle of Numazu in Suruga Province at the beginning of the Tenshō era, and became a rōnin after the fall of the Takeda clan.
