1. In the 11th month of the same year [Bunsei 1, year of the Ox, 1818]: As he had no biological children, he submitted a petition requesting to take Chūshirō, the second son of Machino Shōzaburō, as his son-in-law and adopted heir. Before an official directive was issued in response to this petition, he died of illness on the 21st day of the same month at the age of thirty-two. Thereafter, it was announced to his relatives that his petition would be granted posthumously. Funeral rites were performed according to Shinto custom; his posthumous spiritual name (*reigō*) was Tamahiko-rei; burial place: [remainder missing]
