英語訳

[Entry for Hayato Mitsuharu, continued] 1. In the 1st month of the 1st year of Bunsei [year of the Tiger, 1818]: He was granted the hereditary stipend (*atoshiki gochigyo*) of one hundred *koku* without any discrepancy. He was appointed as an outside (*tozama*) member of the First Group of the *Kopushin* (reserve/unassigned corps), and since he was not yet assigned to regular duties in order to pursue training in martial and other arts, he was directed to pay the *kopushin* fee (*kopushin-ryō*). He was placed under the jurisdiction of the School Magistrate (*gakkō bugyō*). 1. In the 12th month of the same year [Bunsei 1, 1818]: As he had achieved the level of "shadow/inner practice" (*in no waza*) in the art of spearmanship (*sōjutsu*), he was released from the *kopushin* corps and appointed to the outside corps (*tozama-gumitsuki*). He was assigned to the unit of Kajiwara Heima and performed guard duty at the castle. 1. In the 8th month of the 2nd year of the same era [Bunsei 2, year of the Rabbit, 1819]: He participated in the *oitorigari* (a domain-organized hunting drive) and received a share of the game as a gift from the lord. 1. In the 10th month of the same year [Bunsei 2, 1819]: With regard to the *oitorigari* of that year, as the hunting ground had been changed and it was the first time at the new location, the ranks, marching order, and formation were arranged in an especially fine and orderly manner; the units maintained excellent coordination and operations proceeded without any impediment. Deeming this to be the result of the men's prior diligent practice in combined-unit drills, His Lordship bestowed commendation upon the entire unit. 1. In the 3rd month of the 4th year of the same era [Bunsei 4, year of the Snake, 1821]: His petition to change his name to "Hayato" was granted.
