This map has been compiled based on the baseline surveys of the entire country conducted by the late Master Inō, correcting the positions of national boundaries, district borders, mountains, rivers, and roads. Furthermore, maps from the various domains and prefectures accumulated since the Meiji Restoration were gathered, and geography specialists convened at the Jishū Gijuku academy to produce this work following Western cartographic methods. One sheet is devoted to each province, with maps of major cities and towns also included, and no detail down to the finest subdivision has been omitted. It has captured the essential information admirably. Among maps of our country, none more detailed than this has yet been seen. We humbly request that all those among the public who wish to gain a clear understanding of geography procure and view this work.
