南（みなみ）を陰（いん）とす。山嶽（さんがく）多（おほ）くは北（きた）にあり。天の体（たい）は南（みなみ）を陽（やう）とし

環状に回転して、徐々に動くものであると言われている。ただし地の本質は北を陽とし南を陰とする。山岳の多くは北にある。天の本質は南を陽とし北を陰とする。故に太陽は南に運行する。これは天地が円く渾然と相互に連なった形である。そこで古語にも「地が一尺減ずれば則ち一尺の天を生ず。本来無面目、南北いずれの所にあろうか」とある。なお鶏卵の黄身のように、その形が円満であるが故にこれを地球という。その周囲はおおよそ皆九万里と言われている。また諺に「六海三山一平地」と言う。これは海が十分の六分、山が十分の三分、平地が十分の一分ということである。それ故に「埊」をもって「地」の字とするのはその会合した意味である。そして地震が起こるのは、陽気が陰の下に潜伏して陰気に圧迫され、上昇することができず、ここにおいて地が裂け動き震動するに至るのである。これは陽気がその居場所を失って陰気が充満するためである。また地中には蜂の巣のような穴があり、そうして後に水が潜り、陽気が常に出入りし、陰陽がこれによって相和合してその宜しきを得るのを常とする。もし陽気が滞留して出ることができず、歳月を積み重ねるに従い、地が膨張し水が収縮するゆえに

Yin and yang harmonize through this process to maintain proper balance as the normal state.
