の山や竜田川扨は小倉か手向山の奥にもさを
鹿のこへすみ渡る瀧の宮末は何共知￣ラにぎてあけの
玉垣是そこの腕をさそりて男石 夫女（ミウト）の中を踏
分てさはきのぼつて原村やあなたこなたに
さしのぞき真田をさしてあわれ行

末代までも名折れになると、金子二十両を取り出して、梵天を押し立てて来るのを見て、大声で「皆々、御苦労千万也。些少ながら、金子二十両を御祝儀として進上申し上げますので、穏便にお引き取りください。それでもなお御潰しになるというのであれば、是非もなし。老いの腕の続く限り、本望でございましょう」と呼ばわったところ、おとなしやかな者二人が進み出て、「御神妙なるお言葉、御心懸けの程、頂戴いたします」と金子を受け取り、多くの者を制して出て行った。
矢嶋の役所には、ただ代官一人がおられたが、如何ともせん方なく、拳を握り控えられた。
この騒動の者共、朔日より今日まで四日四夜寝ずとも、眠たいことも嵐も吹く、みむろの山や竜田川、さては小倉が手向山の奥にも、さを鹿の声が澄み渡る瀧の宮、末は何とも知らず、幣あけの玉垣、それそこの腕をさそりて、男石、夫婦（みうと）の中を踏み分けて、騒ぎのぼって原村や、あなたこなたに差し覗き、真田をさして哀れ行く。
英語訳
Fearing that this disgrace would last for generations, Denpachi brought out twenty gold ryō. Seeing the rioters advancing with their sacred staffs (bonten) raised, he called out in a loud voice: "Everyone, I am most grateful for your great efforts. Though it is but a small token, I offer these twenty gold ryō as a gift of goodwill — please withdraw peaceably. Should you still choose to destroy this place, so be it. As long as my aged arms hold out, I shall have no regrets." At this, two mild-mannered men stepped forward and said, "We gratefully accept your noble words and kind gesture," and, taking the gold coins, they restrained the majority of the mob and departed.
