梵天を失えば、どこへ行くべきか手引きする者もなく、慌てふためいて逃げ惑った。茂沢の方へ向かおうとすると、渡し場には依田手の村々から千余人がかがり火を照らし、昼間のように明るくして固めていた。大谷の瀬を渡ろうとすると、塩川手で固めていた。大谷岩下の沢々に隠れようとすると、上田の十五人の人々が槍の鞘を外してあちこちに控えていた。天の網に迷わされて、長い夜も心なく明けて見渡せば、

When they tried to head toward Mozawa, the ferry crossing was guarded by over a thousand people from the villages under Yoda's command, who had lit bonfires making it as bright as day. When they tried to cross the rapids at Ōtani, it was blocked by forces from Shiokawa. When they tried to hide in the valleys below the rocks of Ōtani, fifteen men from Ueda had removed the sheaths from their spears and were stationed here and there.
