此三人も即刻小諸へぞ引渡ける依之躁動は
一旦先相閑りけるといへ共猶も夜盗を搦んと
村々かため強く商人旅人遁世の法師も道を
絡し親類縁者も事問人もなく無道の国と
ぞ成にける

既に十月五日の夜川西村之騒動を相防き
相散し可申に一決して用意致の処に一人

渡ろうとあちらこちらと走り回り、足布下の船渡しで百姓の心得のある者二人が立ち向かい、ついに二人を捕らえ取った。一人が逃げる所を飛び口で引き寄せ、一人を手鷲のように船縁にくくりつけて置き、二人をまず川原の方へ引いて行った。後に残されたのは俊寛一人で、とりあえず一首を詠んだ。

呼べども舟の音信もなし
この三人もすぐに小諸へと引き渡された。これによって騒動は一旦先ずおさまったといえども、なおも夜盗を捕らえようと村々の警備は強く、商人・旅人・遁世の法師も道を塞がれ、親類縁者も事を問う人もなく、無道の国となってしまった。

They ran here and there trying to cross, and at the boat crossing at Ashifushimo, two knowledgeable peasants confronted them and finally captured two of them. As one tried to escape, they pulled him back with a boat hook, tied one like a hawk to the boat's edge, and first dragged the other two toward the riverbank. Left behind alone was one like Shunkan, who composed a poem on the spot:
I alone remain on this demon isle's riverbank
Though I call, no word comes from any boat
These three were also immediately handed over to Komoro. Thus the disturbance temporarily subsided for the time being, but the villages still maintained strong guard to capture night thieves. Merchants, travelers, and even hermit monks found their paths blocked, with no relatives or friends to inquire about them, and the land became a lawless country.

Already on the night of October 5th, having resolved to prevent and disperse the disturbance in Kawanishi village, preparations were made when one person
