丸山の
つつじ
高嶺の
鹿
僧正に頼んだところ、僧正はその孝行な心を感じて当国へ下り、寺院を営み、その守仏を本尊としました。もとより霊験あらたかな仏像であったので、諸人に利益を与えてくださることは、まるで慈母のようでありました。今の坂東巡礼第十六番五徳山水沢寺の霊場が、すなわちこれであります。

The deer of the high peaks
When she made her request to the High Priest, he was moved by her filial devotion and traveled down to this province, established a temple, and made her protective Buddha statue the principal object of worship. Since it was originally a miraculous Buddha statue with divine powers, the benefits it bestowed upon all people were truly like those of a loving mother. This is none other than the sacred site of Gotokusan Suitaku-ji Temple, the sixteenth temple of the Bando pilgrimage circuit.
The historic site of Princess Ikaho
Is said to be located at the foot of the mountain in this area,
as recorded in ancient chronicles.
