【本文】
て松の許（もと）に建（たて）て名を改（あらた）め御蔭（みかげ）の松と号（よ）ぶ此松は
老樹（らうじゆ）にして蒼々（さう〳〵）と枝葉繁茂（しえうはんも）し行啓（ぎやうけい）の御蔭（みかげ）によつ
て其 名誉（めいよ）は幾千代うけて伝ふるなるべし

峯林（みねばやし）に建場（たてば）茶屋あり 山子田村に船尾山 柳沢寺（りうたくじ）とて

山（さん）利根（とね）川等を一 望（ぼう）して風景（ふうけい）最（いと）よろし○水沢 一里余
五徳山 水沢寺（すいたくじ）に坂東（ばんどう）三十三所の内第十六番の観世音（くわんぜおん）
を安置（あんち）せり当寺（とうじ）は往昔（むかし）大寺にして境内（けいだい）に三百 余坊（よばう）ありし
由（よし）縁起（えんぎ）に見ゆ同所 字（あざ）堂（だう）の前に古き礎残（いしずえのこ）り布目（ぬのめ）の古瓦（こぐわ）
あり 又字宮の前の薮（やぶ）中より古き青銅（せいどう）の経筒（きやうづゝ）あるは紫（し）
銅（どう）の香炉（かうろ）を堀得（ほりえ）し者あり且（かつ）観音堂のかたはらに元慶
三年 古碑（こひ）また地蔵尊の銅像（だうざう）六躰を安置（あんち）せし六角
の運転堂（うんてんだう）等あり同所 空穂沢の船尾（ふなを）の瀑布（たき）は高さ

…石碑を松のもとに建てて名を改め、「御蔭の松」と称するようになった。この松は老木であり、青々と枝葉が繁り茂っており、行啓の御蔭（みかげ）によって、その名誉は幾千代にもわたって伝えられることであろう。

峯林に休憩用の立場茶屋がある。山子田村に船尾山柳沢寺という真言宗の古刹がある。道路はしだいに登り坂となり、原野に出ると赤城山・利根川などを一望でき、風景がとりわけ美しい。
○水沢 一里余り：
五徳山水沢寺に、坂東三十三箇所の第十六番の観世音菩薩が安置されている。この寺はかつて大寺であり、境内に三百余坊があったと縁起に記されている。同所の字「堂の前」には古い礎石が残り、布目の古瓦が見つかっている。また、字「宮の前」の藪の中からは古い青銅の経筒が、さらには紫銅の香炉を掘り出した者もある。加えて、観音堂のかたわらには元慶三年の古碑があり、また地蔵尊の銅像六体を安置した六角の運転堂などもある。同所の空穂沢にある船尾の滝はその高さが…（次ページへ続く）

"Mikage-no-Matsu" (The Pine of the Imperial Shade)
Also known as "Onodachi-no-Matsu" (The Pine of the Royal Rest)
[Main text]
…a stone monument was erected at the base of the pine, the tree was renamed, and it came to be called "Mikage-no-Matsu" (The Pine of the Imperial Shade). This pine is an old and venerable tree, with lush green branches and foliage spread in abundance. Thanks to the honor bestowed by the imperial visit, its fame shall surely be passed down for thousands of generations to come.

At Minebayashi there is a roadside rest-stop teahouse (tateba-chaya). In the village of Yamakoda there is an ancient temple of the Shingon sect called Funao-zan Ryūtaku-ji. The road gradually climbs upward, and upon reaching the open highlands, one commands a sweeping view of Mount Akagi, the Tone River, and other scenery — the landscape being particularly beautiful.

At Gotokuzan Suizawa-ji temple, the Kannon (Goddess of Mercy) designated as the 16th station of the Bandō Thirty-Three Kannon Pilgrimage is enshrined. According to the temple's founding legend (engi), this temple was once a great complex with more than three hundred sub-temples within its precincts. At the hamlet (aza) called "Dō-no-mae" in the same area, ancient foundation stones remain and old roof tiles bearing cloth impressions (nunome) have been found. Furthermore, from the bamboo grove in the hamlet called "Miya-no-mae," an ancient bronze sutra cylinder (kyōzutsu) was unearthed, and there is also a person who dug up a purple-copper (shidō) incense burner. Moreover, beside the Kannon Hall there is an ancient stone monument dated to the third year of Gangyō (879 CE), as well as a hexagonal revolving hall (untendō) enshrining six bronze statues of Jizō.
