There are various songs, but setting those aside, the Shijūse Yasue
embankment has broken, and the lords of Bizen and Bitchū provinces
who have been involved since before it broke, have sand transported and earthwork bags made, employing
tens of thousands of laborers and workers daily. The officials
know nothing, and with the great expenses for both Yamate groups, suddenly
the season's end brings great confusion. With three years of great storms and floods this year,
all provinces and countries have had terrible harvests and poor crops, so rice prices are high.

and we're already in trouble, yet the magistrates who employ the workers
yawn and say "Well then, tea and sweets!" and when it's lunch time
"Let's have some sake!" - indulging their hearts in luxury and splendor.
To build embankments carelessly and negligently, once
they break, there will be another great flood. If it breaks this time, even salt won't flow.
If the embankment doesn't break, then "Report it! More workers!"
Not knowing at all the hardships below, they tell the Yamate groups to separate.
"If there are no earthwork bags, then stop it!" - and so on endlessly.
