の宿泊者がいて、夜は一枚の布団に二人三人ずつくるまり、わずかに寒さをしのぐ程度の有様である。また県庁から布告があったにもかかわらず、この災害を利用して様々な策略をめぐらす者がおり、物価は勢いよく暴騰して、白米一升が十銭から十三銭まで、牛肉は今日初めて京都から到着し、その価格は一斤三十銭、鶏肉三十銭から三十五銭、鶏卵一個二銭以上となった。灯油、蝋燭の類も同様に値上がりし、野菜類は特に高価である（これは震災当日から十一月二、三日頃までの相場であり、その後は次第に値下がりしたものの、なお平常の相場には戻らなかったという）。

There were numerous lodgers, and at night two or three people would wrap themselves in a single futon, barely managing to ward off the cold. Despite proclamations from the prefectural government, there were those who took advantage of this disaster for various schemes. Prices soared dramatically: white rice rose from 10 to 13 sen per sho, beef (which arrived from Kyoto for the first time that day) cost 30 sen per kin, chicken cost 30 to 35 sen, and eggs cost over 2 sen each. Lamp oil, candles, and similar items also increased in price accordingly, with vegetables being particularly expensive. (These were the market prices from the day of the earthquake disaster until around November 2nd or 3rd; prices gradually declined afterward but still had not returned to normal levels.)
○Area of Gifu City Burned Down: The area of Gifu City destroyed by the aforementioned fire was over 158,000 tsubo, with the floor area of burned buildings totaling over 75,900 tsubo.
