御譲り被下候様御無心申上候処御役人中
御承知被下則此程御引譲り被下
忝奉存候然ル上ハ年々金壱分弐朱ツゝ
為役金御役元江差遣可申候是迄厚く
御セ話被下其上地所家作迄御引譲
被下候段右御深志之処子々孫々まて
亡却致間敷候尤向後何様之儀有之
候共右家屋敷質物等ニ決而仕間敷候

現代語訳
私どもが新兵衛の跡式を相続することになりましたので、家屋敷をお譲りいただきたく、お願い申し上げましたところ、御役人中にご承知いただき、このたびお引き渡しいただき、ありがたく存じております。このような次第でございますので、年々金一分二朱ずつを役金として御役元へお納めいたします。これまで手厚くお世話いただき、その上、土地・家作までお譲りいただきました件につきまして、右のご恩情を子々孫々まで忘れることはございません。もちろん、今後いかなることがございましても、右の家屋敷を質物等にすることは決していたしません。

英語訳
Since we are to inherit Shinbei's succession, we humbly requested that the house and residential lot be transferred to us. The town officials graciously agreed, and we have now received the transfer, for which we are deeply grateful. Under these circumstances, we shall pay one bu and two shu in gold annually as service fees to the administrative office. We have received your generous care thus far, and furthermore, you have transferred both the land and house construction to us. We shall never forget this deep benevolence through generations of our descendants. Of course, no matter what circumstances may arise in the future, we shall never use this house and residential lot as collateral or security.
