○火の元の件については、各自が厳しく申し付けるよう、かねてより仰せ出されていることであるが、このところ、野辺の人家に近い場所において、弓で火矢の稽古が行われているとのことが聞こえてきたので、今後は慎むよう、各自そのように心得ること。以上。

但し書き：当月三日の夜、大宮忠左衛門組の町の裏野において、荘野利右衛門およびその弟子数名が火矢を射たため、このような通達を出した。

風が強く吹く際には、夜中に自分の家来を屋敷の周辺へ巡回させ、放火しそうな者がいれば召し捕って目付中へ差し越すこと。これに伴い、軽率な判断による逮捕については咎めない。目付中が吟味した上で問題のない者はその場で即刻放免することとする。下屋敷を所持している方々も右と同様に心得ること。御曲輪内の方々はなおいっそう右の通り心得ること。また屋敷が隣り合っている方々は互いに申し合わせて右の通りに行うこと。（割注：八百里云・定式の御触の件は見合わせること）
○先年仰せ出された御書付の通り、いよいよ心得て、末端の者に至るまで厳しく申し付けること。以前からの定めの通り、五つ時（午後八時頃）から提灯を立てて往来することになっているので、これもまた下々に至るまでいよいよ守るよう申し付けること。また、夜番の件については、夜中怠りなく時刻の触れを行い、不審な者を咎め、五つ時を打っても提灯を灯さずに通る者は、末の番人に至るまで順々に送り届け、または火事等がある際には受取場所・各屋敷へ知らせるはずのところ、近年夜番人の勤め方が緩みがちになっているので、厳しく守り、時触等を怠らず触れ回り、諸事定めの通り守るよう申し付けること。不時に御徒目付および組の者が巡回するので、番人どもが油断のないよう申し付けること。また、風が強く吹く際には各自の家来を夜中に屋敷の周辺へ巡回させること。並びに、江戸に留守居の方々は人手が少ないと思われるので、その一族または隣家の方々と連絡を取り、気を付けて油断のないよう相談しておくこと。右の趣旨について、支配のある方々は末端・下々に至るまで厳しく申し付けること。以上。

when strong winds blow, servants are to be made to patrol around the estate buildings throughout the night, and if anyone is found acting as a suspected arsonist, they are to be apprehended and brought before the inspectors. In connection with this, hasty or ill-considered arrests will not be held against those who make them. After examination by the inspectors, anyone found to be without fault is to be released immediately on the spot. Those who hold secondary residences (shimo-yashiki) are to act in the same manner. Those within the castle enclosure (o-kuruwa) are all the more to act in accordance with the above. Furthermore, those whose estates are adjacent to one another are to consult among themselves and act in the manner described above. *(Marginal note: Regarding the standard notice from Yaorimachi, compare with the regular notice.)*
○ As stated in the written notice previously announced, this is to be taken to heart all the more, and all persons down to the lowest are to be strictly instructed. As has long been established by rule, people are to carry lit lanterns when traveling from the fifth hour (approximately 8 p.m.) onward; this too is to be observed without fail by all persons down to the lowest. Furthermore, regarding the night watch: the time-call is to be made faithfully throughout the night without negligence; suspicious persons are to be challenged; and anyone who passes without lighting a lantern after the fifth hour is to be passed along in relay from one watchman to the next, down to the furthest watchman, and in the event of a fire or other emergency, this is to be communicated to the designated reception points and to each estate. However, in recent years the conduct of night watchmen has grown lax; they are therefore to strictly observe their duties, make the time-call without fail, and in all matters comply with established regulations. Unannounced patrols will be conducted by the walking inspectors (o-kachi-metsuke) and members of the groups, so watchmen are to be instructed not to be negligent. Furthermore, when strong winds blow, servants of each household are to patrol around the estate buildings throughout the night.
