【四巻四丁裏】
△百万人を、一坪につき四人ずつ居るものとして、どれほどの広さ（四方）になるかという問いに対して：
（答え）八町二十間四方
百万人を四で割ると二十五万坪となる。これを開平法（平方根を求める方法）によって解くと五百間四方となる。これをさらに六十間（一町の長さ）で割ると、八町二十間四方と分かる。
△百万人を、一坪につき十二人ずつ居るものとすると、何町四方になるか

(Answer:) A square of 8 chō and 20 ken on each side
Dividing one million people by four gives 250,000 tsubo. Applying the square root method (kaihei-hō) to this yields 500 ken per side. Dividing this further by 60 ken (the length of one chō) gives 8 chō and 20 ken per side.
△ If one million people are accommodated at twelve persons per tsubo, how many chō square would the area be?

(Answer:) A square of 4 chō, 48 ken, 4 shaku, 4 sun on each side
