【四巻七丁裏】
実（じつ）に一万五千百二十九坪と置く。まず位（くらい）を見る。一・十・百・一十・百と数えて進み、このように数えて上がった時、百を二度当てはまれば「百の位」と定め、商（しょう）に百を置く。さて、下法にて百よりまた一・十・百と上がって百と置く。この上の法にて下法の百・商の百を呼ぶ時、一万坪となる。実（じつ）にてこれを除くと、実に残りて五千二十九坪あり。
【四巻八丁表】
商の百の次に二十と置く。さて下方の法をいう。一位（ひとくらい）さけて、百を一倍にして二百と置く。この下にまた二十と置く。さて法にて下方の二百に商の二十を呼ぶ。二二（にに）の四千、二一（にいち）の四百。この四千四百を実（じつ）にて引くべし。
実に残りて七百二十九坪あり。

【Folio 7, verso, Volume 4】
Place the dividend (*jitsu*) as 15,129 *tsubo*. First, examine the place values. Count up: ones, tens, hundreds, tens, hundreds — counting upward in this way. Since "hundred" is reached on the second pass, determine this to be the "hundreds place," and place 100 in the quotient (*shō*). Next, in the lower method (*kahō*), count up again from 100 — ones, tens, hundreds — and place 100. Using the upper method with the lower method's 100 and the quotient's 100, the result becomes 10,000 *tsubo*. Subtracting this from the dividend (*jitsu*), the remainder in the dividend is 5,029 *tsubo*.

Place 20 next to the quotient's 100. Now, state the lower-side method (*kahō*): shift one place, double the 100 to make 200, and place it. Below this, place 20 again. Now, using the method, call the quotient's 20 against the lower side's 200. Two-twos make 4,000; two-ones make 400. This 4,400 is to be subtracted from the dividend (*jitsu*).
The remainder in the dividend is 729 *tsubo*.
