下法の四千に三を以て乗じて一万二千とし、一位遍退する。商に五百と立てる。法にて商を下法に遍乗する。〔一×四〕四（兆）、〔一×五〕五億、〔二×四〕八億、〔二×五〕一億。置く。再び法を一十百千と上がりて、商の五百を以て法に遍乗する。〔五×五〕二穰五杼、〔四×五〕二杼。実にてこれを除く。次に角引き也。

Multiply the lower method's 4,000 by 3 to get 12,000, and shift back one place. Set 500 as the next quotient digit. Using the method, multiply the quotient through the lower method: [1×4] = 4 (chō); [1×5] = 5 oku; [2×4] = 8 oku; [2×5] = 1 oku. Place these. Again raise the method by one-ten-hundred-thousand, and multiply the quotient 500 through the method: [5×5] = 2 jō, 5 jo; [4×5] = 2 jo. Subtract this from the dividend. Next comes the "angle subtraction" (sumi-hiki) step.

Multiply the quotient 500 by 3, add to the lower method, and shift back one place. Multiply the quotient through the lower method: [1×4] = 4 oku, 5 (man); [1×3] = 3,000; [3×4] = 1 oku, 20,000; [3×5] = 15,000; [3×3] = 900; [4×5] = 20,000; [5×5] = 25,000,000; [3×5] = 150. Again multiply the quotient 30 through the method. Raise by one-ten-hundred-thousand: [3×6] = 1 jo, 8 gai; [1×3] = 3 kyō; [1×3] = 3 chō; [3×5] = 1 chō, 5 oku; [3×5] = 1 oku, 50,000. Subtract this from the dividend. Next comes the "angle subtraction" (sumi-hiki) step.
