[Folio 2, Sheet 4, Verso]
...gives 28 kin 35 [i.e., 28.35 kin]. When it is unclear what the fractional part "35" means: multiply 160 me (the weight of 1 kin) by 0.35, and you get 56 monme, making 28 kin 56 monme in total. Divide this 56 monme by 4 monme, and you find it equals 28 kin 14 ryō.
○Next, multiply 8,400 kin of thread by 64 kan 800 me, and you get 544,320,000. Divide this by 160 kan me, and you find it equals 3,402 kin.
○Also, for the scrolls: multiply 64 kan 800 me by 280 scrolls, and you get 181,440,000. Divide this by 160 kan me, and you get 113 scrolls with a remainder of 4 [i.e., 0.4 of a scroll]. When it is unclear what the fractional part "4" means: multiply the length of one scroll, which is 3 jō 8 shaku, by 0.4, and you find it equals 113 scrolls, 1 jō 5 shaku 2 sun.
The method of allocation for the remaining two merchants (Sakai and Osaka) is the same as described above.

《Title: Section 3 — On Shipping Freight Charges》
△Suppose someone loads 250 koku of rice onto a ship to be transported somewhere. The freight charge is 7 koku per 100 koku. When paying the freight for these 250 koku in rice, how much is the freight charge?
《Freight charge:》 16 koku, 3 to, 5 shō, 5 gō, 1 shaku, 4 sai.
First, multiply 250 koku by 7 koku, and you get 1,750. Divide this by 107 koku, and the freight charge equals 16 koku 3 to 5 shō 5 gō 3 shaku 4 sai.
△Also, how much is the net rice (the original rice minus the freight charge)?
233 koku, 6 to, 4 shō, 4 gō, 8 shaku, 6 sai.
Divide the 250 koku by 107 koku, and you will find the net rice amount.
