【二巻廿六丁裏】
をきかけて又弐百／束（そく）をかけて右べちに置（をき）て
又五尺を右のことくに三一六にてわり左右にをきか
け是（これ）にて右をわり申候時に百六十弐／束（そく）としるゝ也
△五／尺（しゃく）なわの内（うち）五／寸（すん）ふそくの時（とき）は二わり三分四り五毛ふそく
△五尺なわの内四寸ふそくの時は一わり八分七り三毛不足

【二巻二十六丁裏】
置き掛けて、また二百束を掛けて右に別に置いて、また五尺を右のごとくに三一六で割り、左右に置き掛け、これで右を割り申す時に、百六十二束と知れる也。
△五尺縄の内、五寸不足の時は、二割三分四厘五毛不足
△五尺縄の内、四寸不足の時は、一割八分七厘三毛不足
△五尺縄の内、三寸不足の時は、一割三分一厘六毛不足
△五尺縄の内、二寸不足の時は、八分四厘九毛不足
△五尺縄の内、一寸不足の時は、四分一厘一毛不足也
法：五尺縄の内、五寸不足の時には、五尺を円廻の法三一六で割れば、一尺五寸八分二厘二毛となる。これを左右に

置いて掛ければ、二百五十（令）三分三厘五毛六糸八忽四となる。これを右に別に置いて、また左に四尺五寸を円廻法三一六で割れば、一尺四寸二分四厘となる。これを左右に置いて掛ければ、二百（令）二坪七分七厘七毛六糸となる。これほど右の五尺縄の坪の内を引けば、残りて四十七坪五分五厘余る。これをまた左の二百（令）二坪七分七厘七毛六糸をもって割れば、二割三分四厘五毛不足と知れる也。

△ When a 5-shaku rope is short by 5 sun, the deficit is 23 bu 4 rin 5 mō (i.e., approximately 23.45%)
△ When a 5-shaku rope is short by 4 sun, the deficit is 18 bu 7 rin 3 mō (i.e., approximately 18.73%)
△ When a 5-shaku rope is short by 3 sun, the deficit is 13 bu 1 rin 6 mō (i.e., approximately 13.16%)
△ When a 5-shaku rope is short by 2 sun, the deficit is 8 bu 4 rin 9 mō (i.e., approximately 8.49%)

Method: When the 5-shaku rope is short by 5 sun, divide 5 shaku by the circular circumference factor (円廻法) 3.16 to obtain 1 shaku 5 sun 8 bu 2 rin 2 mō. Place this on both sides [i.e., square it],

and multiplying gives 250 (rei) 3 bu 3 rin 5 mō 6 shi 8 kotsu 4. Set this aside on the right. Then divide 4 shaku 5 sun by the circular circumference factor 3.16 on the left, obtaining 1 shaku 4 sun 2 bu 4 rin. Multiply this by itself to get 202 tsubo 7 bu 7 rin 7 mō 6 shi. Subtracting this from the 5-shaku rope's cross-sectional area (tsubo) on the right leaves a remainder of 47 tsubo 5 bu 5 rin. Dividing this by the left-side value of 202 tsubo 7 bu 7 rin 7 mō 6 shi gives the deficit of 23 bu 4 rin 5 mō.
All of the above cases are to be worked out by this same method.
