軒の厚さとしなの厚さについては、長さ一間に厚さ一尺をもって一坪という。また、隅の堀については、長さ二間をもって一坪という。谷（たに）も同様。
まず、棟八間に桁行き十間を加えて十八間となる。これを二つに
【二巻三十丁表】
割れば九間となる。これに二間を掛ければ十八坪となる。また、桁行き十間に軒十三間を加えて二十三間あり、二つに割れば十一間半となる。これに三間を掛ければ三十四坪半となる。また、六間に三間を加えて九間となり、二つに割れば四間半となる。これに三間を掛ければ十三坪半となる。三ヶ所合わせて六十六坪あり。これを両側にて百三十二坪あり。
○また、軒回り三十八間に四寸を掛ければ十五坪二分あり。
○また、両しな（斜面）の長さ十六間に二寸を掛ければ三坪二分あり。
また、この四隅を加えて十四間あり、これを二間で割れば七坪あり。
四口（四項目）合わせて百五十七坪四分と知るべし。

For the eave thickness and hip thickness: 1 ken in length by 1 shaku in thickness counts as 1 tsubo. For the corner valleys, 2 ken in length counts as 1 tsubo. The roof valleys (tani) are calculated the same way.
First, add the ridge of 8 ken to the purlin span of 10 ken to get 18 ken. Dividing this by two:

gives 9 ken. Multiplying this by 2 ken gives 18 tsubo. Next, adding the purlin span of 10 ken to the eave of 13 ken gives 23 ken; dividing by two gives 11.5 ken. Multiplying this by 3 ken gives 34.5 tsubo. Then, adding 6 ken to 3 ken gives 9 ken; dividing by two gives 4.5 ken. Multiplying this by 3 ken gives 13.5 tsubo. The three sections combined give 66 tsubo, and for both sides of the roof this totals 132 tsubo.
○ Furthermore, the eave perimeter of 38 ken multiplied by 4 sun gives 15 tsubo and 2/10.
○ Furthermore, the total length of both hip surfaces (shina) of 16 ken multiplied by 2 sun gives 3 tsubo and 2/10.
Additionally, combining the four corners gives 14 ken; dividing this by 2 ken gives 7 tsubo.
