右これはむかひの目(め)付/丈(ちやう)尺しれ申候故
にかくのことくにつもる也
又あるひは遠(とを)さをしれはむかひの目付
のひろさなかさなともしれ申候
又遠さもしらす目付の丈尺もしら
さるをつもる事は勾股の法(ほう)を以(もつ)て
皆(みな)つもるや山の高(たか)きをつもろも
法あり町つもりと云(いふ)事いろいろ

三分に見える時 距離:一町五十一間七寸二分
以上は、向こうに見える物の高さ(丈尺)が分かっている場合に、
このように距離を計算(積もる)するものである。
また、距離が分かれば、向こうに見える物の幅・高さなども知ることができる。
また、距離も分からず、見える物の高さ(丈尺)も分からない場合に距離を計算するには、
勾股の法(直角三角形の計算法)を用いて
すべて計算することができる。山の高さを測る
方法もあり、町積み(距離測定)にはいろいろな方法がある。

The above calculations are for cases where the height (in jō and shaku) of the object seen in the distance is known,
and the distance is estimated accordingly as shown above.
Furthermore, if the distance is known, the width and height of the object seen in the distance can also be determined.
Moreover, for cases where neither the distance nor the height (in jō and shaku) of the object is known,
the distance can be calculated in all cases using the method of kōko
(the right-triangle calculation method). There are also
methods for measuring the height of mountains, and there are various
methods of town/distance measurement (chō-zumori).
