聖人の
親玉
孔夫子は
鳳凰
至らずんば
河図を
出さずと
おっしゃった
のに今
度鳳凰が
出たのは真に
聖代の瑞兆
なので広く
人に見せてあげよう
ということで鳳凰と
弘町と名の響き
も良いからということで
紫野の大徳
寺前の弘町という
茶屋の主人に
下されここで
諸人に見せたのである
麒麟も出たけれども
これは栗鼠同様に
隅っこに
置いて
見せた

英語訳
The sage's
leader,
Confucius, said:
"If the phoenix
does not come,
the River Chart
will not appear."
But now
that a phoenix has
appeared, it is truly
an auspicious omen of this sage's reign,
so let us show it widely
to the people.
Since both "phoenix" and
"Hiromachi" have auspicious-
sounding names,
it was bestowed upon
the master of a tea house
called Hiromachi in front of Daitoku-
ji Temple in Murasakino,
and here it was
shown to all people.
A kirin also appeared, but
this one, like a squirrel,
was placed
in a corner
and displayed.
