あらたに清水の池と題（だい）せり俗（ぞく）
語（ご）のひらたきことはも絵の情（じやう）
に帰服（おもひつけ）ば淤泥（どろ）を決流（さぐりなが）＃1して
清水の池に月を宿（やど）すの情誠（じやうせい）
やゝおもしろき画解（ぐはかい）といふべきな
らん書林も教訓といふに善念

孝弟（かうてい）の道に益（ゑき）あらんとて漫滅（まめつ）の
字々（じし）を点検（あらため）余（よ）に需（もと）むるにはし
書（がき）を誣（しふ）まことに善（ぜん）といへば古き
名なれとも春秋（はるあき）の寝覚（ねざめ）にも
栄爽（わつさり）として今（いま）新（め）かしく屋漏（おくろう）
にもはづかしげなき事なれば
人は初心（しよしん）ともいへ鄙俗（いやし）とも嘲（あざけ）れ

新たに「清水の池」と題した。俗語の平易な言葉も、絵の情趣に引き付けられて思い入れれば、泥を掻き分け流して清水の池に月を映すような、まことに趣深い絵解きと言うべきであろう。書林（出版元）もまた、「教訓」という名のもとに善い心を起こして、子女が石投げ遊びにうつつを抜かすのに代えて、

孝行・友愛の道に益あらんと、擦り減って判読しにくくなった文字を一字一字点検し直して、私（筆者）に求めるので、序文を書き記すこととした。まことに「善」というのは古い言葉ではあるが、春秋（春と秋）の夜の寝覚めにも、さっぱりと清々しく今なお新鮮に感じられ、誰に見られても恥じることのない事柄である。だから人がいかに「初心者向けだ」と言おうとも、「卑俗だ」と嘲ろうとも、
