以手紙申入候今寒候得共
無御別条珍重存候然者此度
甲州嶋上条村作右衛門方ゟ
宗門之義申越何卒貴様方
御両所之内にて宗門印形頼
申度由にて印形拙者方え
差越候間預置候間此段
拙者御無心申呉候様に被申越候
御両所にていつれ宜様頼入
此段申入度早々以上

現代語訳

手紙でお伝えいたします。今は寒い季節ですが、お変わりなくお過ごしのことと存じ、何よりに存じます。さて、この度甲州嶋上条村の作右衛門のところから宗門の件について申し越しがあり、「どうかあなた方お二方のうちで宗門印形をお預かりいただきたい」とのことで、印形を私のところへ送ってきましたので、お預かりしております。ついては、この件について私が無理なお願いを申し上げるようにと申し越されております。お二方のうちどちらでも結構ですので、よろしくお願いいたします。この件をお伝えしたく、取り急ぎ以上です。

I write to inform you by letter. Though it is now the cold season, I trust you are in good health, which is most gratifying. Now then, recently there has been correspondence from Sakuemon in Shimakamijo Village in Koshu Province regarding religious matters. He requests that "one of you two gentlemen please safekeep the religious seal," and since he has sent the seal to me, I am keeping it in custody. Regarding this matter, I have been asked to make this request of you. I would appreciate it if either of you two could handle this matter favorably. I wanted to inform you of this matter, so I write in haste. The above.
