He resided in Sakai-no-tsu. His eldest son Hanihara Hachizo and second son Sanjuro both served Hideyori and committed seppuku together when Osaka fell. After that, the retired Raisen once went to Nagoya in Owari, where he was granted a residence by Yoshinao-ko (Lord Owari Dainagon), but after Yoshinao-ko informed Itakura Iga-no-kami (the Kyoto Shoshidai), he established his residence in Kyoto. Raisen's third son, Hanihara Jiroemon Kiyokata (born in Yamashiro, father of Kiyokatsu), was young during the Osaka campaigns and stayed with his father, living as a ronin his entire life until he died of illness in Kyoto. Kiyokatsu went to Edo and stayed with Oda Sadaoki, and was summoned to service at Sadaoki's request.
△ Niwa
Summoned to service in the 10th year of Genroku, year of the Metal Ox, during Lord Yoshishina's reign.
●Niwa Yozaemon Yoshifusa (home province Owari, birthplace unknown, family name Fujiwara)
His ancestor, a man called Niwa Samanosuke Muneshige, served Nobunaga-ko and was appointed as guardian to Hasegawa Otake Shuichi when he was lord of Togo domain in this province. Later, during Hideyoshi-ko's time, he accompanied the Korean campaigns as a warrior commander and died in battle at Jinju in Korea. He was granted a domain of 3,000 koku. His son, Niwa Zenemon Munetora, went to Korea together with his father Samanosuke, and after his father's death in battle, was appointed to succeed his role and served accordingly. However, after Lord Hasegawa Togoro died of illness in Hizen province, his son Takenosuke succeeded as head of the family but died young soon after, causing the line to be discontinued and all retainers to become ronin. Since there was a connection with Niwa Gorozaemon Nagashige, lord of Komatsu castle in Kaga province, he went to Kaga and later went to serve under Niwa Kanbei, who served Hideyasu-ko. During the Osaka campaigns, he borrowed armor from Honda Izu-no-kami Tomimasa and fought, killing an ashigaru captain named Makino Jirozaemon from Fukushima Masamori's forces along with his standard, achieving distinction. He then served Tadanao-ko and Tadamasa-ko.
