過分之御物入ニ而御勝手甚御差支御政事ニも相障り可申ニ付
諸事御入用相減御為ニ相成候様御用掛り被仰付候間御奉行共ハ

一同日 神明宮木町 八幡宮松本 天王毎年祭礼之節御代参

徳正院様の御百箇日御法事が執行された。
一、二月五日、評定所において、書院番頭御用人・天方数馬（友祥）へ、去年以来、過分の御物入りにより御勝手（財政）が甚だ差し支え、御政事にも障りが生じかねないことにつき、諸事の御入用を削減して御為になるよう御用掛りを仰せ付けられた間、御奉行たちはもちろん、御役人たちに至るまで、包み隠しなく相談すべき旨を、御家老・松平主馬（正明）が申し渡した。
一、同日、神明宮（木町）・八幡宮（松本）・天王について、毎年の祭礼の節に御代参・御祈祷奉行をもって御初穂を奉供する旨が仰せ出された。
一、同月九日、御老中・堀田相模守（正亮）殿より御呼び出しがあり、御留守居・横田作大夫（尚道）が罷り出たところ、去る月二十六日に差し出していた御伺書に、御付札をもって御差図があった。
（御伺書の内容）
某（拙者）が幼年の内は、年始御礼のために御本丸・西丸・大奥へ登城すべき旨、先達て仰せ出されました。この度、登城の儀についてお伺い申し上げます。
一、右の登城の節、三御所様ならびに万次郎様へ、別紙の通り差し上げたく存じます。また、女中への贈物の儀も、別紙の通り贈るべきことと存じます。この段、お伺い申し上げます。以上。

The hundredth-day memorial service (hyakkanichi hōji) for Lady Tokushōin was conducted.
Item: On the fifth day of the second month, at the Hyōjōsho (Deliberation Hall), the Senior Chamberlain's aide (goyōnin) Amagata Kazuma (Tomoyoshi) was informed that, given the excessive expenditures since the previous year which had severely strained the domain's finances and were likely to impede the conduct of governance, he had been appointed to the post of financial supervisor (goyōgakari) to identify ways to reduce expenditures across all matters for the benefit of the domain. The domain Elder (karō) Matsudaira Shume (Masamitsu) conveyed the instruction that all officials, including magistrates and other functionaries, were to discuss this matter without concealment.
Item: On the same day, it was decreed that at the annual festivals of Shinmei-gū (Kicho), Hachiman-gū (Matsumoto), and Tennō Shrine, an honorary offering (hatsuhо) was to be presented via a representative (odaisan) and the prayer magistrate (okitō bugyō).
Item: On the ninth day of the same month, having been summoned by the Senior Councilor (Rōjū) Hotta Sagami-no-kami (Masasuke), the Edo caretaker (rusuiyaku) Yokota Sakudayū (Naomichi) appeared before him, whereupon instructions were issued via an attached reply slip (tsukefuda) in response to the petition (ukagaisho) that had been submitted on the twenty-sixth day of the previous month.

It was previously decreed that while I am yet of young age, I should attend the castle (登城) to pay New Year's congratulatory respects (nengashi) to the Main Keep (Honmaru), the West Keep (Nishinomaru), and the Inner Quarters (Ōoku). I hereby respectfully inquire regarding the matter of attending the castle on this occasion.
Item: On the occasion of the said castle attendance, I wish to present offerings to the Three Gosho (Three Honored Ladies) and to Manjirō-sama, as described in the accompanying document. Furthermore, I intend to send gifts to the ladies-in-waiting (jochū) as described in the accompanying document. I humbly inquire regarding these matters. Respectfully submitted.
