Note: The aforementioned document is recorded as having been submitted to the duty commissioner (go-yōban) on the thirteenth day of the coming fifth month.
Item: On the fourteenth day of the fourth month, a memorial Buddhist service (hōji) was held at Nikkō-zan for the hundredth anniversary of the death of Lord Taiyūin. As today was the middle day (nakabi) of the ceremonies, in order to pay respects and inquire after the well-being of those presiding, the resident official (rusui) Katō Chōemon (Masatoshi) was dispatched as an envoy to: the duty commissioner Sakai Uemon-no-jō (Tadayori), the Senior Counselor (rōjū) attached to the Retired Shogun's quarters Nishio Oki-no-kami (Tadanao), and the Senior Counselor attached to the Lord Great Counselor (Dainagon) Akimoto Tajima-no-kami (Suzutomo).
Item: On the eighteenth day of the same month, no offering of fish (o-sakana) for the conclusion of the period of abstinence (o-shōjin-age) was presented.

Item: On the twentieth day of the same month, as the Shogun (Kubō-sama) was making a pilgrimage to Tōei-zan (Kan'ei-ji), a letter was dispatched for the first time from the inner quarters (go-naishō) to the senior ladies-in-waiting (rōjochū) of the Main Keep (Hon-maru) to inquire after the Shogun's well-being upon his return.
Note: On the twenty-ninth day of the previous first month, at the time of the pilgrimage to Zōjō-ji, word had come from the senior ladies-in-waiting of the Main Keep that, for every pilgrimage to both Tōei-zan and Zōjō-ji, an inquiry letter should be sent upon the Shogun's return. Accordingly, this was the first time such a letter was dispatched... (continued on the next page)
