英語訳
[Continued from previous page] ...five hundred *hiki* in gold each were bestowed [upon the escort and bearers]. A letter of thanks (*reifumi*) for the gifts bestowed upon the said envoys was sent to the Senior Lady Chamberlains (*o-tsukirōjochū*) attending the Kubō-sama, the Ōgosho-sama, and the Dainagon-sama.
Note: Regarding the matters of gifts bestowed upon the envoys on the occasion of the presentation of lotus rice (*ren-han*), and the subsequent sending of letters of thanks, these shall henceforth be treated as established precedent and will not be recorded here.
One: On the same day, in connection with the same matter, through a letter of conveyance (*hōbun*) from the Senior Lady Chamberlain, the following were received for the first time as gifts: one ceremonial arrangement of lotus rice, one box of mackerel, and one cask of sake. On that occasion, the following amounts were distributed: to the envoy, a gift register (*mokuroku*) and three hundred *hiki* in gold; to the three senior escorts (*kami-sairyō*), three hundred *hiki* each; to the four junior escorts (*shimo-sairyō*), two hundred *hiki* each; to one decorator (*kazarikata*), one hundred *hiki*; and to fifteen bearers (*mochinin*), three hundred *hiki* in total. In addition, sake and clear soup (*o-suimono*) were provided.
Note: Regarding the gifts bestowed upon the envoys and others on the occasion of receiving the lotus rice, these shall henceforth be treated as established precedent and will not be recorded here.
Regarding the expression of thanks for the above received gifts: as the [young lord] was still of a tender age, Fukujirō (Katafusa) acted as his representative (*myōdai*). He paid calls upon the Duty Councillor (*goyōban*) Lord Honda Hōki-no-Kami (Masayoshi), the Senior Councillor attending the Ōgosho-sama, Lord Nishio Oki-no-Kami (Tadanao), and the Senior Councillor attending the Dainagon-sama, Lord Akimoto Tajima-no-Kami (Suzutomo). An envoy — the Head of the Shogunal Guard (*gosho'in-banchō*) Shimada Seizaemon (Shigeyuki) — was dispatched to the remaining Senior Councillors. To Lord Hotta Sagami-no-Kami (Masaatsu), a Senior Councillor, a separate special envoy was sent as an expression of thanks, namely the Chief Elder (*karō*) Ashida Zushō (Kenno). To the Shogunal Attendants (*sobashū*) — Lord Takai Hyōbu-no-Jō (Nobufusa), Lord Ōoka Izumo-no-Kami (Tadamitsu), and Lord Ogasawara Iwami-no-Kami (Masanori) — envoys in the form of *otsukai-ban* (messenger officers) were dispatched.
Note: Regarding the dispatch of envoys to the remaining Senior Councillors as expressions of thanks for the gifts received, this shall henceforth be treated as established precedent and will not be recorded here.
