Item: On the same day, the御用人 (chief attendant) Daidōji Magokurō (Shigenori) called upon the Senior Councilor (Rōjū) Hotta Sagami-no-Kami (Masasuke).
(Yesterday, the attendant Kurahashi Jintayū had sent word to appear today.)
Upon appearing, he was informed through the attendant Kurahashi Jintayū that there should be no obstacles to the marriage proposal (en-dan) that had been privately examined the previous day, and that furthermore, further private inquiries should be made when winter comes. Magokurō further stated that, with regard to the matter of the Three Gosanke Houses, it was understood that the matter would proceed only upon a petition from one of those houses. Previously, Takenokobu Yamashiro-no-Kami, chief retainer of the Owari domain, had mentioned in private that since our house (the Fukui Matsudaira clan) has distinguished lineage, he would work toward having Lord Yoshimaru also submit a formal inquiry in line with the Owari lord's inquiry to the shogunate. Since failing to do so could amount to abandoning our house, Magokurō conveyed his wish to make the inquiry through the senior commanders (osakite-shū) who had been entrusted with this matter. Jintayū informed him that the full details would be relayed to Sagami-no-Kami. Accordingly, on the following day, the 13th, Magokurō called upon the Chamberlain (sobashū) Ōoka Izumo-no-Kami (Tadamitsu) and conveyed the above.
Item: On the 13th day of the 8th month, through Mochizuki San'ei (an elder/physician), the Chamberlain Ogasawara Iwami-no-Kami (Masato) inquired about the growth and condition of the Korean ginseng seeds that had previously been received as a gift. After investigation at the home domain, a letter from the chief attendant Daidōji Magokurō (Shigenori) was attached and the reply was sent via a foot attendant (o-kachi) to Elder San'ei.
