特に変わったことはなかった。しかるところ、六月初めより長雨が続いたためか、立ち枯れになってしまった。もっとも、以前より（種の）大半は翌年に生え出るか、あるいは三年かかって生え出ることもある。以上。
八月
一、八月十九日、御目付神尾市左衛門殿・土屋長三郎殿より御書付をもって、年始・五節句・月次、その他、西丸へ出仕の節、西丸大手の下乗所について、今後は同所大手腰掛の角より七本目の柱を限りとして下乗所となるので、登城の際には、駕籠・挟箱等をそのまま腰掛の方、および御堀端の方へ、立番の限りに片寄せて置くこと、出張（はみ出すこと）しないようにすること、退出の節は主人を見かけ次第罷り出ること、右の場所の外へは置かないようにすること、場所の差配のため御徒目付・御小人目付を差し出し置くので、きっと差図を用いるよう、供の内の頭取の者、その他末々にまで申し付け置くべき旨が申し渡されたとのこと。松平陸奥守殿・松平安芸守殿の留守居・供頭より廻達があった。
一、同日、三の丸において、今日より来る廿八日まで、諸組の者に目中（勤番）を仰せ付けられ、御名代として御側役を差し出され、それぞれ当たりの者共へ御褒美が下された。
但し、諸組の者に目中を仰せ付けられる儀は、以後記さない。
一、同月廿五日、定府組の者に右同断を仰せ付けられ、御名代として御側役代・御用人毛受伝三郎（■福）が差し出され、それぞれ当たりの者共へ御褒美が下された。

[The growth] was not particularly different from before. However, as heavy rains continued from the beginning of the sixth month, the plants withered and died. It should be noted that, as has been the case previously, the majority of the seeds sprout in the following year, and some cases have been known where sprouting takes three years. Eighth Month
Item: On the 19th day of the 8th month, a written notice was issued by the Inspectors (metsuke) Kamio Ichizaemon and Tsuchiya Chōsaburō, regarding the dismounting area (gejosha) at the main gate of the Western Citadel (Nishinomaru) during attendance for the New Year's greetings, the Five Annual Festivals, monthly ceremonies, and other occasions. Henceforth, the dismounting area is to be designated up to the seventh pillar from the corner of the covered waiting area (koshikake) at the main gate of the Western Citadel. Accordingly, upon proceeding to the castle, palanquins, hasami-bako (luggage boxes carried on poles), and the like are to be moved directly to the side of the waiting area and along the moat embankment, kept within the limits of the standing guard posts, and must not protrude beyond. Upon the lord's departure, attendants are to present themselves as soon as they catch sight of their master. Nothing is to be left outside the designated area. Since inspectors of foot soldiers (o-kachi-metsuke) and inspectors of minor attendants (o-kōnin-metsuke) will be deployed to manage the designated areas, the head attendants among the retinue and all others down to the lowest ranks are to be duly informed that they must strictly follow instructions. This circular notice was received from the留守居 (castle keepers in Edo) and供頭 (attendant chiefs) of Matsudaira Mutsu-no-Kami and Matsudaira Aki-no-Kami.
Item: On the same day, at the Third Enclosure (Sannomaru), from today through the 28th of this month, members of the various units (shogumi) were ordered to perform guard duty (mokuchū). An attendant officer (sobayaku) was dispatched as a proxy representative (o-nadai), and prizes/rewards were distributed to those who had performed well.
Note: Henceforth, orders for guard duty to members of the various units will not be recorded.
Item: On the 25th of the same month, the members of the Jōfu-gumi (the unit of retainers permanently stationed in Edo) were similarly ordered to perform the same duties. The deputy attendant officer (sobayaku-dai) and chief attendant (goyōnin) Mōuke Denzaburō (■Fuku) was dispatched as a proxy representative, and prizes/rewards were distributed to those who had performed well.
