一、十一月二十八日、御名代・出羽守（宗衍）様が御登城された（服紗御小袖・御麻上下を御着用）。白書院縁頰において、御老中が列座し、御用番・本多伯耆守（正珍）殿より以下の通り御達があった。
尾張殿の息女を、於義丸へ縁組仰せ付けられた由。
右が終わり、出羽守様はそのまま直接このお屋形へお越しになり、大書院において御対面され、右の仰せ出された趣旨をお伝えになった。御長鮑の御祝が済んだ後、出羽守様は御熨斗目にお召し替えになり、御礼のため、御老中、大御所様付・大納言様付両御老中を御廻勤され、若年寄中・両御付若年寄中へ御使者として御家老・芦田図書（賢納）を差し出した。御側衆・御奏者番・寺社奉行・御留守居・大目付・町奉行へは、御使者として御使番・大御番士を差し出した。追って、京都所司代・松平豊後守（資訓）殿へ御使者として、同所の御留守居・八木郡右衛門（睦雅）を差し出した。
一、同日、右と同様の件につき、御内証（奥方）より、公方様・大御所様・大納言様へ御礼のため女使を差し出した。（今日、御伺い済み。）
一、同日、尾張中納言（宗勝）様へ、今朝、上使として御老中・松平右近将監（武元）殿・西丸御老中・秋元但馬守（凉朝）殿をもって御縁組を仰せ出された段について、中納言様より御案内として、大番頭・上野小左衛門が、中将（宗睦）様より同格として沢井三左衛門が差し越され、御名代・式部少輔（近輝）様が御逢いになった。右の御挨拶として尾張様へ即刻御使者を（差し出した）。

Item: On the 28th day of the 11th month, the representative (nadai) Dewa-no-Kami (Muneyuki)-sama proceeded to the castle (dressed in fusa-ginu small robes [fukusa-kosode] and formal hemp kamishimo). At the veranda of the White Audience Chamber (Shiroshoin), the Senior Councilors were assembled in attendance, and the duty elder Honda Hōki-no-Kami (Masayoshi)-dono delivered the following official notification:
It has been ordered that the daughter of Owari-dono
be given in marriage to Yoshimaru.
Upon the conclusion of the above, Dewa-no-Kami-sama proceeded directly to this residence (oyakata), and at the Great Audience Chamber (Ōshoin) met in person with [the lord], conveying the purport of the above pronouncement. After the celebratory offering of long abalone (oshinoshi) [a traditional betrothal gift] was completed, Dewa-no-Kami-sama changed into formal noshime robes and, as an expression of gratitude, made a round of visits (mawaridome) to the Senior Councilors, the Senior Councilors attached to the Ōgosho-sama and the Dainagon-sama, and dispatched the chief retainer (okaro) Ashida Zushо (Kenno) as a messenger to the Junior Councilors (wakadoshiyori) and the Junior Councilors attached to both [the Ōgosho and Dainagon]. To the lord's attendants (gosokushū), the audience-ceremony officials (gosōjaban), the Commissioner of Temples and Shrines (jisha-bugyō), the Edo resident deputies (orusui), the senior inspectors (ōmetsuke), and the town magistrates (machi-bugyō), messenger-officials (otsukai-ban) and senior guardsmen (ōgobanshi) were dispatched as messengers. Subsequently, the Edo resident deputy of that post, Yagi Kōriuemon (Mutsumasa), was dispatched as a messenger to the Kyoto Deputy (Kyoto Shoshidai), Matsudaira Bungo-no-Kami (Sukenori)-dono.
Item: On the same day, in connection with the above matter, a female messenger (onnazukai) was dispatched from the inner household (onaishō) [i.e., the ladies' quarters] to offer formal thanks to the Kubō-sama, the Ōgosho-sama, and the Dainagon-sama. (The courtesy call [oukagai] for today was completed.)
Item: On the same day, regarding the fact that the marriage arrangement had been announced to Owari Chūnagon (Munekatsu)-sama this morning by means of the shogunal messengers (kōshi) — Senior Councilor Matsudaira Ukon-no-Shōgen (Takemoto)-dono and Nishimaru Senior Councilor Akimoto Tajima-no-Kami (Suzutomo)-dono — Chūnagon-sama sent Ōbangashira (senior guard captain) Ueno Kōzaemon as a courtesy envoy, while Chūjō (Munemichi)-sama sent Sawai Sanzaemon of equivalent rank; the nadai Shikibu-no-Shōyū (Chikатeru)-sama received them. As a greeting in return for the above, a messenger was immediately dispatched to Owari-sama.
